Job Summary:
The Linguist II will determine speech data needs and set a strategic vision for data-based model and product improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Provide linguistic expertise in phonetics, phonology, lexicography, dialectology, and NLP.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and prepare audio files for TTS human evaluations.
• Work with external vendors to track evaluation progress, address issues, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
• Analyze deliverables and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Monitor and track annotation progress to ensure timely completion.
• Address and resolve annotator questions to maintain consistency in guidelines.

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, and dialectology.
• Expertise in prescriptive writing and punctuation conventions for at least one language.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet management.
• Experience in program management and evaluation.
• Native English speaker with strong linguistic skills.
• Ability to maintain guidelines and resolve related questions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with French, Italian, German, or Spanish (FIGS) languages.
• Basic data analysis skills.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in linguistics, language technologies, computational linguistics, speech science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience.

Must-Have Skills:

• Technical skills
• SQL skills
• Strong project management skills

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Linguistic knowledge – ability to understand errors
