Job Title: Electrical / Power Engineer

Overview:
Join a dynamic team supporting a major refining operation in Baton Rouge, LA. We're looking for a seasoned Electrical / Power Engineer with a solid foundation in industrial power systems and a working knowledge of oil and gas or petrochemical facilities . This role is critical to maintaining and optimizing the reliability, safety, and performance of the site's electrical infrastructure across all voltage levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engineering expertise to troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade electrical systems, including motors, transformers, switchgear, and MCCs in a refinery setting
Evaluate and maintain medium- and low-voltage distribution systems (13.8kV, 4.16kV, 480V and below), with a focus on safe and continuous operations
Participate in Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA) to identify and eliminate recurring issues within electrical assets
Contribute to project scope development and provide technical reviews of electrical components for both capital and maintenance projects
Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA) and adhere to OSHA safety regulations and site-specific requirements
Update and review key documentation, including one-line diagrams, schematics, load lists, and protection coordination studies
Work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, construction, and external vendors to ensure safe, efficient execution of projects and fieldwork
Support turnaround planning and electrical execution strategy, including energization sequencing and QA/QC during field activities
Champion the site's safety culture and operational excellence initiatives in all engineering activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
Minimum 10 years of experience in power engineering within refining, petrochemical, utility, or heavy industrial environments
Proficient in electrical system design, reliability engineering, and protection strategies
Familiar with engineering tools such as ETAP or SKM PowerTools (preferred)
Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and arc flash analysis best practices
Strong communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills
Preferred Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Certification (Construction or General Industry)
